The Frontend Treadmill
I enjoyed reading this blog post called The Frontend Treadmill about an engineering director’s opinion that chasing the latest, greatest web frontend is a waste of time and a trap:
If you are building a product that you hope has longevity, your frontend framework is the least interesting technical decision for you to make.
The only thing I’m not clear on is what the author is proposing as a solution. He mentions returning to fundamentals, but I’m not clear on what he means there. Frontend web development was also a mess pre-frameworks—it was just a different type of mess and difficult to manage large projects.
