Livecoding Music with Strudel
I happened upon a fascinating video of Switch Angel making music live by writing code. At first, I wasn’t sure if the code on screen was actively driving the audio synthesizer or just visual flair for the video.
Digging through the comments revealed that she was using Strudel, a browser-based livecoding environment for algorithmic music patterns (based on TidalCycles). They have an interactive tutorial that teaches the syntax step by step right in the browser. It’s remarkably well executed and a ton of fun to experiment with.
