The Future of htmx
I’ve read about htmx several times and it has always intrigued me, as I find modern frontend web development absurdly complex—even if I’ve wondered whether it might be tricky to scale an application using it.
I came across an essay they published on The future of htmx. I found it refreshing: they too feel modern technology, and frontend web development in particular, suffers from an unsustainable amount of feature churn, and they want to take a different approach. While comparing themselves to jQuery might not win points with everyone, their broader point about stability is compelling. Is htmx choosing a boring path, or do we need more libraries taking this approach?
