Hacking US Crosswalks with Default Passwords

There is a very interesting article titled Hacking US crosswalks to talk like Zuck is as easy as 123. It details some clever hackers updating crosswalks that normally have a generic audio message saying “wait… wait…” to play recordings of AI-generated deepfakes of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and recently in Seattle, Jeff Bezos. Definitely check out the video in the article for a good laugh.

How did they do this? Turns out there was a publicly available app to admin these on the Android and iOS app stores, and the default password of 1234 often wasn’t changed on the crosswalk devices.
